April Project - 12 Months of Knitting with Adonmu
π§Ά APRIL 2026
Stockinette Frame Square
π Welcome to April
In March, you learned how to follow a pattern.
In April, you begin to understand your fabric.
This month introduces stockinette stitch — one of the most common and recognisable knitting textures. By working knit stitches on one side and purl stitches on the other, you will begin to see a smooth, even surface form.
You may also notice your fabric trying to curl. This is a natural behaviour of stockinette stitch and part of understanding how knitted fabric works.
Take your time. Observe your stitches. This is where control begins.
πΏ What You’ll Learn
• The difference between right side and wrong side
• How stockinette stitch is formed
• How to alternate knit and purl rows
• How fabric behaves and responds
• How to maintain smoother, more even stitches
πͺ‘ Materials
• Medium weight (worsted) yarn
• 4 mm knitting needles
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
π Finished Size
Approx. 18–20 cm square (depending on tension)
All squares this year follow the same structure:
• 30 stitches cast on
• 3-stitch garter border on each side
• 4 garter rows at the top and bottom
Only the centre pattern changes each month.
π Encouragement
Consistency builds control.
Every row you complete is helping your stitches become more even, more relaxed, and more confident.
π± Looking Ahead
Each square you create is part of something bigger.
Keep this one safe — you’ll use it again.
