Safe Skincare in Pregnancy

It's April and the April showers have started inching in, a great relief from the intense heat we have been having in March. With the world working together to end the COVID - 19 epidemic, you may have a few health worries going on through your mind, and body, especially if you are expecting.
There are a lot of information about how to stay safe generally, as well as if you are pregnant, be sure you are getting the right information. So far, the best means of being safe is maintaining good hygiene and social distancing.

Pregnancy comes with a whole lot of varied feelings, changes and all, and because of the change in your hormonal levels, you may find that you no longer like some of the things you loved before, and find yourself enjoying some other things you never even liked. The same goes for your skincare - the hormones can change the way you look and feel, making you start searching for a new "magical lotion" or just any product that will make your skin look good.

Truth is, because the change to your skin happened because of the pregnancy, about nothing is going to work, until after you give birth to your bundle of joy!
But don't feel defeated just yet, there are products that will help you feel much better. Only thing is you have to be sure what you apply at this very special time of your life is safe.

We all know that our skin absorbs what we apply onto it, and it goes into our blood vessels as well. Since the mother nourishes her baby through the umbilical cord, there is a chance that some products will find its way into your baby's body as well, so you need to be careful about what the product you apply contains.
The best and safest way is to go natural, as always. However, there are a few Natural ingredients, especially some essential oils, that aren't safe during pregnancy so you need to always, always read through the ingredients list of any product, and research the safety guidelines before you apply it at this particular time. You should also avoid very hot baths as this tends to dry out your skin, and dry skin leads to itchy skin.

In pregnancy, your skin stretches to accommodate your growing baby; stretched out skin tends to dry out and become itchy, and some may develop stretch marks. As a result, you may find yourself needing to scratch your tummy, buttocks or breast areas. Scratching may make the situation worse, so you definitely need something that will soothe the area while reducing the itch, something safe for both you and your baby.
