Naturally Beautiful You - Face Care

There are basically four face types: Normal, Oily, Dry and Sensitive, based on how the skin of the face feels and reacts to what you apply to it, the weather and daily factors you come across.
It is possible to have an oily face and have the rest of your body dry.

Normal Skin Type

The pores are small, not easily seen, and the face doesn't get swollen easily. There is no excess shine, no cracks or flakiness, and has few lines and wrinkles. The skin tone is mostly even, with no marks or blemishes. However, this face type isn't all that perfect as you may still get an occasional blemish or skin issue; like aging, life events (pregnancy, menopause), hormonal changes, stress or the use of wrong skincare products.
If you have Normal Skin, your face will require less maintenance, however you need to be consistent with regular face care products that contain ingredients that are suited for your skin type. You should use products that are not so greasy, and avoid those that cause excessive dryness.
Try our Rose Clay Face Bar for your daily face cleansing, followed by an oil cleaning with the Savanah Oil Cleanser, and moisturize with our awesome Face Serum.

Oily Skin

Oily skin can be caused by your genetic factors, or because of hormonal changes. Excess oil (sebum) is produced by the skin, and this can expand the pores, making them look large, and also lead to blockage which ultimately causes pimples and other acne blemishes. The skin usually has a great deal of shine and terrible breakouts.
This face type requires a little bit more maintenance but as always, consistency is key, as well as the use of skincare products that are suited to your face type. Avoid products that dry out the skin too much - this will only make it worse since the skin will start to produce even more oil to compensate for the sudden lack of oil.

Try our Activated Charcoal & Tea Tree Face Bar once or twice a day, using any of our cotton face scrubbie, instead of a sponge to get the pores clean and fresh (activated charcoal purifies the skin while Tea Tree Essential Oil helps with bacteria that can increase pimples).
Follow with the Savanah Oil Cleanser to remove the dirt that the washing didn’t remove, believe me, there is still dirt after you wash your face.
Finally moisturize with our awesome Face Serum which has Frankincense Essential Oil, known as an ancient beauty elixir for any skin type.
Your face will also benefit from our Night Repair Serum, with Cam-wood and Lemon Essential Oil, to help even your skin tone as well as clear blemishes.

Dry Skin

The pores of this skin type is almost invisible, and because it produces less sebum (which keeps the skin soft and supple) the skin feels tight. The face may have scaly patches or flakiness, and may suffer premature wrinkles and regular irritation.

Use Deep-skin moisturizers avoid harsh cleansers (like benzoyl or peroxides) since they further reduce the amount of oil in the skin. You should also avoid long hot baths since hot water strips the oil from the skin, while long baths dries the skin even further)

Try our Rose Face Bar for your daily face cleansing, it contains oils that get deposited on the skin as you wash.
Follow with the Sahel Oil Cleanser to add moisture while you remove the remaining dirt.
Then moisturize your face with our amazing Face Serum.

Sensitive Skin

This skin type may be any of the 3 skin types we discussed earlier, however it is prone to severe irritation and blemish. It reacts to a lot of ingredients found in skincare products, which can cause a lot of pain, swelling and discomfort.

Try to limit your range of skincare products to basic natural products, especially ingredients that are known to hardly cause any irritation, like Shea. Avoid or limit products with fragrances and colorants, and try products one at a time so you are able to know which you are allergic to.
You may need to try a few products before you are able to find the one that suits your skin, since most sensitive skin types have their own unique form of characteristics and product allergies.

You may begin with our skincare products designed for babies: Try our Baby Soap Bar and Baby Oil, you may also try our Honey Soap Bar, African Gold and Butter Supreme.
You should try a small amount of product on a small portion of your skin and give it some time to see if you are allergic to the product.

Whatever your skin type, you should be consistent with your face care routine: wash, rinse, cleanse with an oil cleanser and then moisturize. Also try to always remove all makeup from your face before going to bed for a fresh and clean, well-rested skin.

Oil Cleansing

You may find the idea of using oil to clean your face a little strange, but trust me, give it a try. Use one of our oil cleansers to oil-cleanse your skin 2 to 3 times a week, or even daily. The oil removes the the dirt while replacing the oil lost from cleaning, so your skin will not start producing any additional oils.

Oil cleansing is also the best way to remove makeup as it dissolves minerals and oily ingredients easily. Just apply a little oil cleaner on your palms and rub into your face using circular motions for 1 to 2 minutes, wet a face towel in hot water and cover your face with the hot towel for about 30 seconds, this allows the heat and steam to open up your pores. Gently wipe away the oil from your face using the now warm towel then rinse with cold water, your face will feel supple and clean.
